Photo Life and Photo Solution Magazines Present The World We Live In 2012 Photo Contest

Leading Canadian photography magazines, Photo Life and Photo Solution, are inviting North American photographers to submit their best work to The World We Live In, in either the Pro or Amateur categories, under three themes: Humanity, Environment and Interconnections.

Photos of a young child playing with the neighbour’s dog, birds flying low over the lake at dawn, the impressive architecture of the CN Tower, a stranger strolling down the street, a flower, an insect, a table set for dinner… Look around at any moment, and you’ll see that photographic opportunities are everywhere.

Whether you’re pro or amateur, it’s time to share your photographic talent and show us your vision of the world we live in. Dare to challenge your creativity!

Participants are invited to submit their images through a simple on-line interface. Participation fees are required, with special rates for subscribers. The submission deadline is November 30. More than $40 000 will be distributed in fabulous prizes!

A portfolio of winning images will be published in the February/March editions of Photo Life and Photo Solution magazines.

Eligibility: The Contest is open to residents of Canada and The United States, 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry, with the exception of all employees of Apex Publications Inc. and of sponsoring firms and their immediate families. All participants are eligible to win one prize per theme and per category, including the Grand Prize of the Pro and Amateur categories.

Pro category
Subscriber to Photo Life and/or Photo Solution magazine: $7 for 10 images (additional images: $7 per 10 images)
Non-subscriber to Photo Life or Photo Solution magazine: $15 for 10 images (additional images: $15 per 10 images)

Amateur category
Subscriber to Photo Life and/or Photo Solution magazine: $5 for 10 images (additional images: $5 per 10 images)
Non-subscriber to Photo Life or Photo Solution magazine: $10 for 10 images (additional images: $10 per 10 images)

Please note that US residents pay in US dollars. Mail-in entries are not available for this Contest.

Themes
Humanity: Our world has recently exceeded 7 billion people, and each has a story to tell. Capture images of people around you: your family, your neighbours, people you’ve encountered while travelling or even yourself. Show us some of the many facets of humanity.
The Environment: Nature and wildlife will never cease to amaze us. Show us the outstanding beauty of our living world, whether through wide landscapes or close-ups of natural elements, animals, plants or insects.

Interconnections: Humans are by nature interactive beings. Show us how we transform and create things. This can be seen in architecture, domestic pets, urban life, objects, transportation, machines, agriculture, fishing, cooking and almost anywhere you look!

Copyright and usage of entry:

Contestants must own all rights to the works submitted and are solely responsible for obtaining model releases, when applicable. As such, Contestants hold the publisher and Contest sponsors harmless from any breech of copyright in Canada, The United States and elsewhere and from consequential litigation.

Owner of copyright retains all copyright on any photo submitted to the Contest. Apex Publications Inc. reserves publication rights of winning images in its magazines (including covers) and electronic medias, as well as for possible use in future promotional material of the Contest, including other types of publications and advertising material. All photos will be credited to the photographer.
