CHILDREN with CANCER UK are pleased to announce our first photo competition to help the fight against childhood cancer.

The theme is simply ‘Childhood’. Your photo could be a special occasion or anything that reminds you of your own childhood.

Eligibility: There are two categories: children (aged 16 years or under*) and adults (aged 17 years or over).

Entry Fee: To help raise vital funds for our life-saving work, we are asking for a minimum donation of £5 for each child’s entry and £10 for each adult’s entry.

Prizes: There will be one winner and five runners up for both child and adult categories. The two lucky category winners (child and adult) will enjoy a day on a big cat photo shoot in Hertfordshire (worth nearly £200) and a £50 Jessops voucher. All runners up will receive a £50 Jessops voucher. All 12 winning photos will also feature in our special 25th anniversary calendar for 2013.

The APEC 2012 Photo Contest begins on 6 July 2012. Send us up to four of your best shots based on your interpretation of any one or four categories. They are somewhat technical – we understand. But your challenge is to submit images that accurately reflect the meaning of these themes; in other words, demonstrate what APEC does through imagery.

Amateur photographers are able to enter up to four photographs for their chance to win a trip to mysterious Papua New Guinea. Both amateur and professional photographers can enter a Portfolio category for their chance to win £3,000.

The Italian Cultural Association MoCA (Modern Contemporary Art), in collaboration with Arte Laguna, organizes the Seventh Edition of the International Art Prize “Arte Laguna”, aimed at promoting and enhancing contemporary art. The total value of the Prize is 170.000 Euros.

The Prize is open to all Artists, without any limit of age, sex, nationality or other qualifications. Each artist can participate with one or more artworks, in one or more sections. Technical details:

Sculpture and installation
Photographic Art – color and b/w analog photos, color and b/w digital photos, color and b/w digital elaborations, works created on the computer. The maximum size allowed for each work is 175 cm per side.
Video Art and Animation – videos, films and works made with all the animation techniques on any digital and analog support. Works must last 15 minutes at most, opening titles and closing credits included. For the final exhibition artists have to send the original works saved on DVD in high quality and in formats compatible with the mostly used reading systems.

Our photo editors, art directors and judges are looking for your most stunning images where eyes are an important part of the composition. The eyes can be those of a bird, reptile, fish, amphibian or human.

Prizes and awards
Prizes:

1) The top five photographers will have their winning image prominently displayed on a email targeted to over 1,200 professional Photo Editors and Art Directors who are constantly looking for fresh and creative new imagery. These five photos will also be the FEATURED IMAGES on The Chasing Light Juried Photography website for the duration of the current contest. Jurors will award a First Place, Second Place, Third Place and two Honorable Mentions.

2) Jurors will also select twenty “Runners Up” whose work will be displayed online, along with photographer’s contact email and website URL information, in the Themed Contest Gallery.

3) The Top Three Winners (First, Second and Thrid Place) receive a Lifelong Pro Account on Filter Foundry, the fastest growing social network platform for creatives. Check out these features here.

4) ALL Photographers entering a contest will receive a promo code to get an account at FilterFoundry.com with Premium features and it’s Free for life.

5) All requests for publication or prints will go DIRECTLY to the photographer as the photographer’s name and URL will appear with the image description.

Artists whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant Chasing The Light Juried Photography (CTLJP) the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition, marketing the CTLJP programs and subsequent display on the CTLJP website of past exhibitions without further contact or compensation from CTLJP.
