Endorsed by the City of Fremantle, the Fremantle Portrait Prize is expected to become one of Australia's most prestigious photographic portrait awards. Ken Duncan, AOM, is our distinguished patron. The 2012 competition involved the initial submission of digital images during the period 1 May 2012 to 1 August 2012. 696 entries were received from 21 countries. Of these, 641 were accepted as meeting the guidlines specified in the competition's regulations. The 641 portraits were then short-listed by a panel of three independent distinguished judges. The 60 short-listed images were exhibited as prints for final judging in the Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery, Fremantle, followed by an Exhibition of all finalists' prints from 6th to 21st October 2012. This online competition is the final element of the 2012 prize. It seeks to give the wider photographic community across the world the opportunity to select the popular choice (which may be the same as the official judges or completely different). The Fremantle Portrait Prize promotes excellence in the art of portrait photography at the same time as raising funds for the well established charitable organisation, Arthritis and Osteoporosis Western Australia. By participating in the Fremantle Portrait Prize you can help vital work in the prevention and treatment of arthritis which occurs across all age groups, from children to the elderly.Arthritis and Osteoporosis Western Australia will benefit from all proceeds.

Earlier this year, we released ProCamera HD, the first iPad app to take photography seriously by providing photographers with a range of advanced shooting options including exposure and focus adjustment, digital zoom, burst mode and an adjustable shutter button (SnapTrigger).
Recently, Camera+ and Camera Awesome followed our lead, also releasing iPad photography apps.
Using an iPad to take photos is relatively new, but just like the early days of iPhoneography, we can see that the iPad photography boom is coming.
To celebrate this new revolution in iPad photography, ProCamera is excited to announce our iPad Photography Contest.  The submission period opens this Friday the 19th October and runs for ten days.
We want to see how far photographers can push the emerging field of iPad Photography! We’re also dropping the price of ProCamera HD from $4.99 to $0.99 for those that want to try the app and join the contest.  You can download the app here.
Follow us on our BlogInstagram and Facebook for the contest updates including featured photos that catch our eye.
We’d also love to know what features you’d like us to add to ProCamera HD.

Video submissions will be displayed/accepted only for the online exhibition.

*Accepted entries for this online exhibit (with the exception of video submissions) will be judged again for our collective live exhibition at one of our art galleries. The artists will be asked if they wish to submit their artwork for the collective exhibition, which is not a requirement to being a part of the online exhibition.
