WPGA – 3rd Edition The Jacob Riis Award
The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards organizes the third edition of THE JACOB RIIS AWARD (named after the Danish-American photographer, 1849-1914), benefiting Save the Children. In this edition, both portfolios (minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 images) and single images will be accepted, inviting photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements will be welcome. The Award is open worldwide to all professional and amateur photographers working with digital or traditional photography or combinations of both. There is no theme for this Award.
The Award will consist in a cash prize of $ 2,000. Selected images by the juror will be exhibited in the 3rd WPGA Biennial to be held in the Borges Cultural Center in the fourth quarter of 2013.
As in the 2nd Biennial, exhibited images in the 3rd Biennial will be auctioned benefiting Save the Children.
ENTRY FEES:
Early Bird, up to end of July (you may enter during the early bird to take advantage of the discounted entry fees and submit your work on a later date, on or before the final deadline):
$50 for the first portfolio; $25 each additional portfolio
$15 first single image; $ 8 each additional single image
After the Early Bird deadline:
$80 for the first portfolio; $40 each additional portfolio
$30 first single image; $15 each additional single image
Each portfolio should be composed of a minimum of 4 images and a maximum of 8, and should be a cohesive body of work. There is no maximum of portfolios and / or single images to be submitted. Submission of entries can only be done online.
COPYRIGHT: Submitted photographs may be reproduced for the purpose of marketing and promoting WPGA contests and awards, in catalogs, posters, postcards, publications, and on the Internet. Such use is granted for not more than two years after the announcement of the awards and without payment to the photographer of featured models. Photographers will receive photo credit with each use, and will allow WPGA to sub-license their photographs to the press for reproduction in connection with the contests and WPGA exhibitions.
